Officer Auditions
BALLROOM TEAM OFFICERS
Those candidates interested in being considered for a captain/officer must be a senior for the next school year and a second year member. They need to fill out ‘officer interview questions’ provided in a google form. If students did not receive the google form to fill out please let the Coaches know. They must submit a resume and letter of intent with their tryout packet. They will also be asked to showcase their own dance choreography at the officer audition.

Each candidate will read their letter to the team and perform a performance solo choreographed by them. After which each team member will provide their recommendation for officers. The Ballroom Team advisor/coach and judges will review the interview questions each candidate filled out and possible in person interviews will also take place. After evaluating both the recommendations from the company members and the advisor/coach/judges interviews, the best candidate will be chosen for each position. There will be two to six positions open for captains/officers.
Positions consist of:
Duties of officers are: To set an example to all members of hard work, dedication, and a positive attitude during and outside of rehearsals, and performances. To make phone calls/text messages through the calling tree when the advisor specifies, including practices and performances. To complete duties assigned under each specific office. Work closely with each other and advisor on all aspects of the Ballroom Team. To be reliable, dedicated, loyal, responsible, and professional when working with Ballroom Team members and the advisor. To make sure all rules and regulations are upheld and to report any misconduct, complaints, uncooperative behavior or team problems to the advisor. The advisor will then administer discipline accordingly. Officers will work under the direction and approval of the advisor in all Ballroom Team practices, performances, and events. Those who make an officer position will be required to audition for Sterling Scholar in dance. We also ask that they attend Gem State Nationals in March. This is an overnight travel cost of around $650.00.

- Ballroom Team objective for the next school year, work experience, academic accomplishments, leadership qualities, and any dance, choreography, and performance experience.
- Why they would like to be an officer, what they see themselves helping accomplish for the next school year, and what position they would like to occupy.
- You must choreograph your solo on your own. It needs to be at least one minute long and no longer than two minutes and thirty seconds. Your dance can be any style and should be what you consider your strength.

- Boys Team Captain, Girls Team Captain, Publicity, Costume Chair, Secretary, and spirit officer. These positions are moldable year to year and new positions can be created based on need.
