(Senior, First Year)
Kaitlynn has been dancing since before she can remember. She’s spent fifteen years training in ballet as well as tap and jazz including five years dancing on pointe. Recently she has discovered ballroom and is excited to be on the team. These past two years she has enjoyed being a student choreographer for the musicals at Elk Ridge Middle School. After high school, Kaitlynn hopes to attend UVU and pursue a degree in finances. When she’s not dancing, Kaitlynn is singing with the rest of the Bingham Madrigals, attending school, playing the piano, laughing with her friends, or goofing off with her younger brothers all while holding a job. Kaitlynn would like to thank her Mom, Dad, and four brothers for their unconditional love and support, as well as letting her use the kitchen as her personal stage. Senior, 1st year member Emma is super excited to be on the ballroom team this year. When she was younger, Emma took lyrical, jazz, ballet, and tap classes, moving away from that, she has now taken 3 years of social ballroom. Besides dance, Emma is super involved with the technical side of theater. She has done stage tech for 6 years now and is a proud Historian and Tech Manager for the Bingham Theater Co. Looking forward Emma hopes to attend college for theatrical design while continuing to dance. She is thankful for her friends, family, pets, and the teachers that helped her get to where she is today.
Brogen Astle (Senior, 1st year) Brogen is the middle child of his family in between two sisters. He has always loved woodworking and making things with his hands and has been doing it for longer than he can remember. Along with woodworking, he has added a good number of useful and other not-so-useful-but-fun skills to his repertoire as well. Some examples include welding, expert toast making, breaking apples in half with his hands, cooking and baking, automotive work, and last but not least the ability to quote almost any movie he’s ever seen at any time. When he’s not doing any of these things it’s a safe bet that you can find him in a quiet place reading, working on something out in the shop, or just sitting texting with or talking to his friends. Somewhere along the line last year, while taking the Social Ballroom classes, Brogen discovered he really enjoyed and was actually halfway decent at this whole ballroom thing and decided to try out for the team. He feels super blessed to have made it onto the team and has loved the new friendships he’s made and the great exercise practice is. After high school Brogen is going to serve a mission for his church, then find a career to keep money coming in while he either starts his own business or finds somewhere he’ll truly love working. He’d like to thank his family for always being excited when he tells them about a new dance and always encouraging him, he’d also like to thank all the other members of the team for making him feel welcome. And finally thank you for reading all this. Hopefully you smiled and laughed once or twice. Gabbie Smith has been dancing since she was seven years old. She started her dance career at Gravity Dance Center practicing hip-hop, ballet, lyrical, contemporary, modern, jazz, tumbling, and tap. She has also danced at numerous dance conventions as well as Millenium Dance Complex. Her sophomore here she started dancing at Empower Dance Academy where she improved tremendously. This is her first year on Bingham Ballroom Team and she is so excited to compete and learn more about ballroom. She is also a second year member on Dance Company. She is considering going to University of Oregon and trying out for Oregon Dance Team. She would like to thank her mom, Angie Koon for supporting her in dance throughout her life.

She wishes to thank Gina, Ginger, Trisha Wilstead, and her instructors at RMD for the patience, courage, and support they have given her. ***Big shout out to my astonishing mama for sacrificing her sleep to take me to 6AM practice, and for all the hugs that have made everything better<3 Boston Pond is again a member of the ballroom team! Grace Holmgren
Nixon Pond
Zoey Powell |
(Sophomore, First Year Member)
This is the first Grace has done ballroom and she is loving it. Grace has danced for 9 years, 7 of those competitively at a studio in West Jordan. She danced competitively in jazz, contemporary, and hip hop. Ballroom has proven to be a cool way to let her see a different style of dance than what she’s used to. Grace also enjoys swimming, singing, doing art, and hanging out with friends. She also loves to travel to fun destinations with her family. Grace is the person that always likes to do something fun, just like her mom. There are some people that Grace would like to thank, her mom and dad. If they weren’t willing to help her out with everything, she wouldn’t be able to have as much fun with all the things she can do in life. Grace is also thankful for all the seniors that are so helpful to drive her to and from the performance. As a sophomore it’s great to have seniors and parents that are so willing to help. Grace is so grateful that she is on this team and has the opportunity to all this happiness. I am a sophmore and my first year on the Ballroom team. I love my team, they are the best people, not only amazing dancers but also great friends. I love learning new dances and working hard. I have watched my big brother on BBT and I knew I wanted to be on the team too. I look up to Boston in so many ways. I'd like to think I've had a lifetime of training in ballroom because my mom was a ballroom dancer and would always talk about how much fun it is. She strongly encouraged and supports Boston and myself to be on the ballroom team. I like playing basketball, soccer and being with my friends. Zoey has had a blast on the ballroom team. Her favorite dance was the Spooky Skeleton Waltz or the Jingle Bells Christmas Lindy Hop. In her early years, she has done hip hop, ballet, and several years of jazz dancing and singing. At Hawthorn Academy, she did elementary ballroom for two year and in middle school took Dance 1 and 2. My hobby is reading and writing and my favorite things are dogs, dance, and karate. My dance teacher Ms. Tyhurst inspired my love of ballroom dance and the bingham ballroom team has made my love for it grow. My family has always been supportive of me. My friend and brother also took me to early morning practices before I got my license and I will always be grateful for that. |
